Dice have always shown keen interest towards low level API and providing Gamers and enthusiast with the better next gen features and performance in there games. They worked closely with AMD for implementation of Mantle in there games, which laid the grounds of low level API development and finally paved the way for DirectX 12 and Khronos’ Vulkan.

The Upcoming games powered by the Frostbite engine namely Need For Speed 2015 releasing on November 3, Star War Battle Front releasing on November 17 and Mirror Edge Catalyst which would release on 13th of February would be featuring Direct X 12.

However it hasn't still been confirmed if DirectX 12 and Windows 10 would be the minimum requirements for upcoming titles and if they would only support DirectX 12. If we go further back into Frostbite's history and take a look at the titles running on the Frostbite 2 engine like Battlefield 3, it had support for both Direct X 10.1 and 11. However in an recent interview Johan Anderson, another Technical Director at DICE said that the upcoming titles running on Frostbite would need a minimum of Windows 10 machine with DirectX 12 support.
