The MSI GTX 980Ti lightning is based on the GM-200-300-A1 GPU which features 2816 Cuda cores, 176 TMUs and 96 ROPs. It has been a long time since MSI has launched a Lighting series GPU after the launch of the Lighting 780Ti and 290x and thus enthusiast expect a worthy improvement in the next Gen Lightning GPU's. The card is factory overclocked at 1203Mhz base clock and 1303 MHz boost clock. It features a 6GB GDDR5 memory which runs along a 384 bit bus. The memory clock is set at 1774 MHz(7.0Ghz) which sufficiently pumps out a bandwidth of 340 GB/s.

The card is based on 12+3+1 phase power VRM design and uses a Dual 8 Pin connector and a Single 6 pin connector to power up the monstrous GPU. The next Gen DrMOS 5 MOSFET technology is used to power up the GPU which increase its power efficiency and reduce power loss. The GPU comes with expensive Military class components and a PWN(Pulse Width Modulation) design which increases power efficiency by turning power supply on and off at regular intervals. The card can draw a maximum power input of 450Watts which is much greater as the maximum TDP of the GM200 core is 250Watts thus it can surpass all your overclocking needs. The card features a 10 layer PCB to strengthen it up and a dual bios setting is provided to create different overclocking profiles

It comes with the latest TwinFrozr coolers which consist of three high speed coolers, two outlined black in color and the middle one outlined with the theme color yellow which make the card look awesome. The heatsinks consist of five dense heatpipes which are in direct contact with the Gpu core to dissipate out heat. The middle fan cools the PWM supply while the rest of the two cool the GPU and Memory chips.
